NEW
BEGINNINGS

The client for this penthouse set in Boston’s historic Back Bay was a residential developer. NHD was tasked with fully sourcing and staging the home upon completion of construction. The result is a timeless, understated, and light-filled residence that blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living.

With a large skylight offering glimpses of the clouds crossing the city skyline, as well as doors opening to the perfect private deck for after work cocktails, the living room is a space that nimbly pivots in function between morning and dusk without changing the spirit of the couple in the mechanics.

The kitchen offers an abundant area for both cooking and conversation with its palette of marble, pure white, and brass. More formal meals take place at the dining room table, where a contemporary chandelier adds city glitz in step with oak built-ins anchored in tradition.

The primary bedroom proves that it’s possible to incorporate a desk for working from home without making things all about business. Work is separated from relaxation by positioning sophisticated side chairs in front of the desk—creating two zones within one room. French doors open out to Juliet balconies and the buzz of city life below.
