SOUTH END
CHARM

Photos by Michael J. Lee Photography

This three-floor South End residence was the third property NHD worked on for the same wonderful client. The living room is just eleven and a half feet wide, rendering this project an exercise in space planning. Luckily, the ceilings are tall at twelve feet in height and the residence is flooded with natural sunlight and both these features make it feel larger than it is on paper.

Every piece of furniture was mindfully selected to flow in proportion to the constraints of the space. The Holly Hunt console and dining set and the Bright Group settee were all customized to compliment the scale. The red lacquer tables in the living room can be easily moved to accommodate a martini or stack of magazines, adding a lipstick pop wherever they go.

The client is very close to her extended family and has relished hosting Easter brunch in her previous homes. Her new residence had to be able to accommodate her sisters just as graciously and lovingly but without feeling cramped. To that end, the host and hostess chairs from the dining set sit in the charming bow windows when not in use for a meal and are where the client takes her morning cappuccino on an everyday basis.
